Romantic gifts and gestures

Forget expensive jewellery and stunning lingerie. What women really want are the simply things that show you care.

According to a recent survey, British men are some of the least romantic in the world, choosing football and drinking over wooing. They are less likely to give compliments or small displays of affection, instead opting to drop a load of cash on expensive romantic gifts.

So if you’re on a budget, remember these top 10 romantic gestures you can do for practically nothing.

10 – Make her a compilation of her favourite music

9 – Send her a bouquet of flowers, or a box of chocolates at work

8 – Offer her a coat when she is cold

7 – Wake her up with breakfast in bed

6 – Send her a romantic text or email, or leave a loving note around the house

5 – Run her a relaxing bath after she has had a bad day at work

4 – Tell her that she is the most wonderful woman you have ever met

3 – Write a song or poem about her

2 – Whisk her away somewhere exciting for the weekend
