Friday Night at The Brickhouse Restaurant

The Brickhouse Restaurant

I am very much in love with Squire Tingle.  And boy did he treat me last night.  I think I am the luckiest girl in the world.

We hadn’t planned to go out, but it was coming to the end of a long Friday at work for me and a cheeky little text came in telling me to be at Liverpool Street at 19:30.

I arrived at the station just as a second message came in:

Across the road is a prêt and a costa.  In front is a bike rack.  Find the wicker basket.

A huge grim spread across my face and I felt my pulse quicken.  This was going to be an exciting night out.

I crossed the road and found the wicker basket attached to the front of one of many bicycles belonging to various commuters chained up in the bike rack. Nestling in the bottom was a card addressed to me.

The letter read:

Dear Mistress Twitch,

It’s been a long while since we had a proper date. Tonight, that will be rectified…

Your charming host will whisk you away for an intimate meal for two at a modern restaurant with an exciting twist. Dine to your heart’s content on sumptuous modern cuisine in the stunning atmosphere of London’s Brick Lane. Afterwards you’ll be invited to the bar to sip delicious exotic cocktails and let your mind unwind after the busy day.

Get ready because the journey is about to being…

Yours,

Squire Tingle

As I finished reading, a third text came in:

Make your way to the taxi rank.

I approached the taxi rank and noticed one with my name in the window. I got in. As I did Squire Tingle appeared through the other door.

Ten minutes later we arrived at our destination – The Brickhouse in Brick Lane.

In the words of The Brickhouse:

We aim to take you back to when life wasn’t such a rush and an evening was leisurely spent in one place.  In the style of the 1930’s Speakeasies (but without the Prohibition!) and supper clubs, we will entertain you with our varied group of performers whilst you dine or sample our stunning cocktails at the bar.

The cocktails and the food were delicious.  I had the most remarkable ox tail with a parsnip crème brulee.  Truly divine.  Squire Tingle had a a risotto stuffed pepper which didn’t look half as good as mine, but he assures me it was sumptuous.

The Brickhouse Stage

Our table was positioned directly in front of a half-moon raised white stage, back-dropped by a red velvet curtain.

At around 9.30pm the show began.

Our performers for the night were Latino Hideaway:

Enjoy their full booty shaking glory for an authentic Brazilian cabaret evening filled with the scent, the rhythms, the swing and the sensuality of Brazilian dance. Featuring a selection of their exhilarating and infectious cabaret shows plus their interactive carnival finale where dancing is fully encouraged!  Expect infectious booty shaking rhythms amidst quirky exoticism, feathers and sequins covered in vintage, style and humour.

I loved the act.  It was exotic, fun and titillating and certainly got us in the mood for some late night romancing. At one point we were even persuaded to join twenty or so other dinner guests in a congo around the entire restaurant, covering both floors multiple times!

After finishing my desert and consuming an entire bottle of champagne, Squire Tingle and I exited The Brickhouse into the busy Brick Lane nightlife and were whisked away by taxi.

The night was a surprising, exciting, romantic and delicious experience. I’m going to have to think of a really special surprise to treat Squire Tingle back.
